About ITA

Inside Track Athletics (ITA) is the multi-sport coaching arm of STREAMLINE Sports Instruction (SSI). Developed by its founding coaches, Noy Basa, Al Gonzales and Paolo Leaño, ITA brings to the forefront an integrated coaching system not borne by the experience of one, but strengthened by the cumulative expertise of many. Their complementary coaching styles and backgrounds allow them to develop seasonal and race specific triathlon programs for individuals, training groups and multi-sport teams.

An early competitive swimmer at the age of 10 he continued competitive swimming up to his sophomore year at the Ateneo de Manila University. After a career in sales and operations, he followed his passion to teach swimming to children and adults of all ages and skill levels.

He has since coached hundreds of non-swimmers and triathletes to overcome their fear of water, become stronger swimmers, and accomplish their performance goals. Noy has facilitated a number of Total Immersion adult swim workshops both here and in Hong Kong. He is currently a competitive endurance athlete racing with REVV Multisport, with numerous podium finishes in aquathlons, open water swims, and triathlons under his belt.

He was the fastest Filipino finisher in the 2015 Ironman in Melbourne, Australia and 4th overall and top age-grouper at the recently held 10K Caramoan Open Water Challenge.

NOY BASA Noy has always thrived in competition

Al received his Teacher's Certificate from Total Immersion USA after being mentored by its founder, Terry Laughlin. He subsequently took part in workshops and triathlon camps in the United States as well as in the Asia-Pacific, and Europe.

Al began his journey as an athlete in 2000, when he joined the University of the Philippines Triathlon Club. He was the youngest participant in the First Philippine Long-Distance Triathlon (First full Iron distance race in the Philippines held in 2002.

He then went on to compete in races under the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP), the International Triathlon Union (ITU), and USA Triathlon, garnering medals in his age group, inspiring him towards a coaching career as a swim instructor. He now races with REVV Multisport.

More recently, Al attained his triathlon coach certification from the IRONMAN University.

AL GONZALES Al is the heart behind ITA coaching

Paolo is the everyman whose journey into endurance sports has inspired those around him to follow in his footsteps.

In his mid twenties, Paolo had reached the upper end of the weight spectrum at 225 pounds. He immersed himself intensively in exercise physiology, and took on a complete lifestyle change, losing and keeping off 80 pounds since then. He took it upon himself to reverse his fate and tackle his own heath and fitness through sheer grit, his passion for problem-solving and love for life-long learning.

After completing his first marathon in 2010, he has since transitioned into triathlon and has consistently been at the top end of his age group. He won his age-group in the first duathlon he joined, and went on to finish his first 70.3 with a time of 5:07.

Racing with REVV Multisport, he has been on the podium in several local races and finished as the fastest Filipino male in his age-group at Cobra 70.3 2015. At the inaugural Challenge Vietnam 70.3, he came in as the fastest Asian.

PAOLO LEAÑO Paolo is the everyman who turned his life around
